Spain is a new world champion in most favorite sports in earth after beat Netherlands 1-0 with an effort of Iniesta on final match at Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg. They came in South Africa with high expectation to win the cup after wining the UEFA Europeans Champions in 2008.
David Villa and Fernando Torres become most spotlight players prior to the World Cup 2010. However Fernando Torres injury affects his performance although not for David Villa as become main scorer for Spain.
Spain best achievement was ranked fourth in the World Cup in 1950 and 14 years later they did won European Cup champion in 1964. After two big successes that Spain failed to become the world major national team when only qualify for the World Cup in 1966 and failed to qualify in European Champions until 1980.
World Cup 1978 is the starting point of the rise of Spain after failing to highlight themselves as rulers of the world football from 1966 till 1978, when failing progress to World Cup and European Cup. However, their best performance only up to the Quarter Final of World Cup in 1986, 1994 and 2002. While on the European stage they became the runner-up in 1984 and twice in the quarter-final in 1996 and 2000.
Spain become European champion 2008 for second time after defeating Germany 1-0 in soil of Austria and Switzerland as witness the rise of Spain. Two years later, Spain became a world leader of football after won the 2010 World Cup.
