FIFA World Cup 2010 : Uruguay return

Uruguay finished fourth in FIFA World Cup 2010 is the best achievement since 1970. This was fourth time they finished top four. Prior to 1970 they have won two times FIFA World Cup in 1930 and 1950 along with finished fourth place in 1970.

In qualifying group of South America, Uruguay was struggling to advance in final when finished 5th place and need to take part in play-off against Costa Rica to booked ticket in South Africa. They managed to beat their opponent 2-1 in aggregate to advance.

Diego Forlan, Sebastian Abreu and Luis Suarez are the main scorer in qualifying stages when scored 7 goals, 6 goals and 5 goals respectively. In South Africa Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez continue their excellent when managed to score 5 goals and 3 goals respectively.

Luis Suarez has played all matches for Uruguay during in qualifying and World Cup final count to 15 matches except 2 times; Semi-finals match against Netherlands and qualifying match against Bolivia.

Diego Forlan become most highlighted player throughout the tournament when awarded Adidas Golden Ball. As Atletico Madrid key player he had scored at most Uruguay goals with 5 goals out of 11 goals and total of 12 goals including qualifying stages.
